The Beers
Off Duty
Tropical Pale Ale | 4.9% ABV
Work's over; the Sun's still up. Find your paradise and just relax. Off Duty is a refreshing ale brewed for the boat, the beach, the backyard, or the bar. Brewed with sweet orange peel, ahtanum & galaxy hops for a light bodied easy drinker. Have an Off Duty while your Off Duty!
Stonington Glory
Bohemian Pilsner | 4.7% ABV
This Czech-style pilsner sports a light golden color and a firm white head. Crisp and refreshing, it has a dry mouthfeel and a pleasant floral aroma with a hop finish. Beyond the crisp, refreshing taste and hoppy goodness you just might taste something else: Glory. Stonington Glory celebrates our town’s victory against the British in the 1814 Battle of Stonington, when we turned away a British fleet’s 160 guns with a mere two cannons. So raise a glass to the brave people of Stonington. Victory Never Tasted So Good!
Incredibly Pretentious Ale
Double IPA | 7.5% ABV
Pinkies up; it's time to put on your superlative beer snob face. A Double IPA above the rest with distinct notes of mango and stone fruit, balanced by a prodigious malt backbone. Incredibly Pretentious Ale is crafted with the most ostentatious hops we could source including Galaxy, Mosaic, Simcoe and Citra as well as a salubrious dose of arrogance.
Perry's Revenge Ale
Scotch Ale | 8.5% ABV
A Scotch Ale, malty and complex mahogany colored with hints of chocolate. To commemorate Charlie Buffum's historic find of the wreck of the USS Revenge off the coast of Watch Hill, Rhode Island. Last seen in 1811, the USS Revenge was Oliver Hazard Perry’s first Naval Command before his famous victory in the battle of Lake Erie during the War of 1812. This dark and stormy brew summons to mind the mystery of things long lost in the bottom of the ocean. Revenge is best served cold!
About Us
Better Beer
I felt this desire to make better beer. While studying in London, I developed a passion for quality ales and when I returned to Connecticut with my family, I knew I wanted to leave consulting and turn my passion into a business. I worked hard to master my craft. My wife, Ann, and I opened the doors to Cottrell and on February 28, 1997, we rolled the first keg of Old Yankee Ale down Mechanic Street to our local watering hole, CC O'Brien's. Our mission was then, and is still now, to produce the best product that we can using fresh, natural, quality ingredients.
If you haven’t tried Cottrell , you are missing out on a uniquely brewed, quality product steeped in New England history and great taste. Cottrell is something I hold dear to my heart and I want to share it with the world
Cheers,
Charlie Buffum
